GRAND MARSHAL 2O24 🌈 Congratulations Jupiter Peraza! ABOUT Jupiter Peraza (she/her) is an transgender activist, organizer, DACA recipient, and thought leader on a variety of social justice issues such as trans civil rights and immigrant advocacy. In May 2022, Jupiter graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in international relations and a minor in political science. Ms. Peraza began her work in San Francisco local politics in 2018 when she began working at Manny's - a civic community space in the Mission district, As Events Manager, she idealized and organized nightly programming on local, state, and national socio-political issues ranging from climate change advocacy, immigrant rights, tenant protections. LGBTQ+ civil liberties, economic equity, and so much more. In 2020, and now as Manny's Director of Community Initiatives, she organized over 1,000 for a national phone bank, letter writing to swing states, and sent over one million text messages for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. At the beginning of 2021, she traveled to Georgia to canvass for the U.S. Senate candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff with the New Georgia Project and Mijente. After organizing to take back the House, Oval, and U.S Senate, Jupiter decided to move onto The Transgender District - the world's first legally recognized transgender district based out of San Francisco's Tenderloin district - to expand her mission of advocacy for the transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binarv. and intersex individuals (TGNI). As Program Associate, she led Housing Opportunities for Transgender Tenants (HOTT) - a pilot housing subsidy program which housed TGNI in the SF Bay Area She organized a COVID-19 vaccine activation in the Tenderloin for vulnerable residents. In 2021, as Director of Social Justice and Empowerment Initiatives at The Transgender District, she wrote and spearheaded the effort to designate August as Transgender History Month in the city and county of San Francisco. In collaboration with the Office of Transgender Initiatives and the Women's Foundation of CA, Mayor London Breed signed a proclamation formally recognizing August as Transgender History Month. In March 2022, Jupiter Peraza was recognized as 2022 CA Senate District 1 1th Woman of the Year by CA State Senator, Scott Wiener. In August of 2023, state lawmakers voted to make California the first state in the nation to officially observe Transgender History Month, thanks to the efforts of this year's Grand Marshal, Jupiter Peraza LEARN MORE www.jupiterperaza.com

ABOUT Anita Phaye Thomas (she/her) is a distinguished community activist and public orator with a remarkable 25-year career dedicated to HIV and mental health services. Her extensive experience in these fields has solidified her reputation as a trusted advocate and program manager, committed to improving the lives of those affected by these critical issues. Anita's contributions extend beyond her professional roles; she is an influential leader within her church's ministry, where she actively participates in and supports various outreach initiatives. Residing in Oakland, Anita is deeply embedded in her community, where she is known for her unwavering dedication and compassionate approach to service. Her expertise and passion for helping others have earned her respect and admiration from colleagues and community members alike. Outside of her professional and community-focused endeavors, Anita cherishes time spent traveling with family and friends. This aspect of her life reflects her belief in the importance of personal connections and rejuvenation, providing balance to her demanding career. Her friendly demeanor and genuine empathy make her a valued confidant to many, further highlighting her commitment to fostering supportive relationships both personally and professionally.
